Welcome to the Naturaliste Family Playgroup
We would like to welcome you to our beautiful playgroup and hope you will join us for a fun-filled year ahead. We want to ensure that you and your family have an enjoyable time at Playgroup so here is some information to help you settle in.
What do we do at Playgroup?
On arrival we sign in and read any messages. Then we make a cup of tea/coffee and the children are free to play and explore. This is also a great opportunity to catch up with fellow members.
We are well equipped with art and craft materials. Anyone can set up a craft activity from painting, drawing, play-dough, cutting and gluing. Have a look through the cupboards one day and see if you feel inspired.
At 10.45am it is time to start packing away all the toys, doing the dishes, washing down benches and sweeping. Once clean inside we ask parents to get children to play outside. Someone may like to do a small activity outside – sing nursery rhymes, read a book or group play with a ball or large parachute.
Many hands make light work and if we all do one job while at playgroup it makes it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
How does the Naturaliste Family Playgroup operate
Naturaliste Family Playgroup is a not-for-profit organisation that is run by a committee of volunteers. Our playgroup has been in operation for nearly 30 years and it is our members commitment that keeps the Playgroup running.
All our indoor and outdoor equipment, toys, art and craft supplies, power, water, rubbish collection, rates, cleaning, gardening, repairs, maintenance and outside pest control are funded entirely by membership fees.
As part of the membership, all members are expected to help with the operation of the facility so everyone can enjoy it. This includes helping with session duties, cleaning, participating in busy bees, fund-raising, and helping keep the facility and the playgroup operating smoothly.
Our Committee
The Committee members are officially elected at the Annual General Meeting which is held during Term 1 each year. All members are eligible for nominations for any position in the committee.
Ideally we have at least one representative from each session to sit on the committee to ensure that all days have a say in how the playgroup is run.
The committee meet at least 3 times per year to discuss any issues and/or plan fundraising and promotional opportunities. It is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow members better while volunteering your ideas and time to helping run the playgroup.
If you are interested in finding out more or would like to join the committee please contact us. We are always open to new and better ways to run playgroup please email us with any suggestions or attend a Committee meeting.
